Starting a new week

Had a relaxing cross training day, swam for 30 minutes at the Healthplex. I have got to find my goggles - when I got done, my eyes were killing me. As in, had to go buy some Visine right away. But the swimming felt great. I love being bouyant! The only thing better than swimming is (sorry!) skinny-dipping. But I'm pretty sure the Healthplex wouldn't like that too much.
My librarian friend J was soing some research on why drinking water is good for weight loss, and I thought I'd share the short version. As I understand it, your kidneys are responsible for flushing the gunk out of your system. If they can't do a good job, your liver has to pick up the slack. Unfortunately, your liver is supposed to run your metabolism, burning fat & all, and it can't do that very efficiently if it's working overtime doing the kidneys' job. So drink up! I'm going to start working on that today.

Mary, glad I got to meet you yesterday! I tell you, that is the best explanation about why water is helpful in losing weight. I knew all the technical reasons behind it but always had trouble explaining it...super job getting is simplified. I love your sense of humor esp. with the picture saying you are the one on the left...ha-ha-ha :) Have a great week!
